I remember when I first started preparing for John Monash Science School.
Although I considered myself reasonably good at mathematics and numerical reasoning, I was still nervous because I realised I would also need to write an essay and a scientific report—two tasks I had always struggled with.
On top of that, there was a new scientific reasoning exam, which I had no experience with, and I felt as though the weight of the world was on my shoulders.
That was when I received a call from David at Wisdom Tree. He told me that I had potential—real potential to achieve great things.
I started taking weekly lessons with him, and slowly but surely, I began to see improvements.
With his guidance, I learned to clearly understand the types of questions on the exam and how to approach them.
His extensive knowledge of essays helped me develop my own essay-writing style, and I gained confidence in structuring informative essays.
The many scientific reports we analysed taught me how to organise and include all the necessary information effectively.
After completing the exams, I felt proud of my efforts and confident about my performance.
But I knew the next challenge—the interview—would be even tougher. While passing the exam was a major achievement, it was only half the process, and I knew the interview would truly test me.
David supported me throughout, teaching me how to present myself, refine my answers, and remain composed under pressure.
During our last class before the interview, I nervously asked, “Do you think I will make it?” He replied, “Trust me, if you conduct yourself the way we’ve practiced, I believe you have a 99% chance of success.”
At the time, I didn’t fully believe him. I worried that I hadn’t prepared enough and that unexpected factors could throw me off during the interview.
But then David said, “During the interview, imagine that your interviewer is me, and that we’re just having a regular conversation.”
I don’t know how or why, but that simple advice was all I needed to believe I could succeed.
To the person who gave me this incredible opportunity, David, I want to sincerely thank you.
